About

Thanks for Stopping By!

I’m a PhD candidate in English at the University of Swansea and University of Central Oklahoma and an avid tea and coffee drinker. My PhD research uses corpus linguistics to explore how fanfiction participants depict Tolkien’s female characters- specifically characters with little to no development by the Professor- in fanfiction.

I received my MLitt. in Comparative Literature from the University of Glasgow in 2016. My thesis focused on the subversion of the archetypes of hero/heroine, monster, and villain in modern young adult fairy tale re-tellings from authors Edith Pattou and Cornelia Funke.

Outside of my own academic studies and research, I currently teach college composition and rhetoric and literature survey classes at Murray State College. I also serve as “Barliman” for the award-winning Prancing Pony Podcast.
